Birth of a kiss

Distances are reduced
to full stops
voices softened to a newborn’s
first sleep
light hides in their eyes
dreams wade in desire

penitence is paid for future sins
they wash each other’s feet in tears
words escape from fainting sounds
a million suns blossom

universe on fire
they find a lake
and swim in it
